he restaurant is housed in the former Grand Hotel built in 1893, early in the history of Reedley. The former hotel houses Uncle Harry’s and El Monte Mexican Restaurant.
The name of the city of Reedley is surrounded by controversy. It is said that Thomas Law Reed, a soldier who marched with General Sherman during the Civil War, joined his name and the name of a favorite family servant, Li, calling it Reedley and so named the city on October 31, 1888. However, the family denies this explanation. Nevertheless, Reedley it remains to this day.
